Five holy wounds chaplet

I got an order yesterday for a five holy wounds chaplet. It is a wonderful chaplet for Lent that has a medal for the five holy wounds of Jesus on Calvary. The devotional prayers are included in yesterday's post. 

Lent is such a good time to learn and add a new devotional prayer. Lord bless us on this first Friday in Lent.

Station of the cross chaplet

I now have the stations of the cross chaplet (sometimes known as the way of the cross) available on my website thelightofheaven.com. I am excited to offer this chaplet because the medals are unique. There are some chaplets medals that have a statuary kind of shape that make the chaplet a little lopsided. That's why I really like these uniform medals. I prefer the medal to the colorful plastic images sometimes found on this chaplet. I believe this will be enduring. 

         "This stations of the cross chaplet allows you to pray the 14 stations of the cross in the privacy of your home, car or anywhere. Please note the unique crown of thorns centerpiece. rosary walk for Lent?

My husband really like to go on rosary walks. He likes being outside to say his prayers and includes a prayer walk daily as he comes home from his office downtown. I consider him to be a trifle fanatical. I mean, he doesn't mind inclement weather. Actually, he has a reputation for actually enjoying the gloom or rain. We like to kid that a day of rain or sleet is the perfect picnic weather for my husband. (This stems from more than one incident of sitting in the wind and cold, wolfing down a sandwich.)

But, I digress. I am willing to take a rosary walk if the weather permits. In direct contrast to much of the east coast and midwest, we are enjoying some very mild weather. There isn't any snow on the ground and the temps are in the 50s. With Lent starting in 2 days, I resolve to take a rosary walk once a week during Lent. Its a start...

I got a great order today from one of my suppliers. I got some Divine mercy chaplet medals that I will use to make these: http://www.storesonline.com/site/483384/product/802-3733577. But, I also got some stations of the cross chaplet medals. I haven't had them on the website thelightofheaven.com in a few years, but my old supplier has found a new source for them. Stations of the cross chaplets are a wonderful thing for Lent. (Ash Wednesday is coming up this week). These medals are oblong, pewter. They are quite nice. Look for them on the website this week.

I have the dishwasher running, the washing machine just finished and I am trying to organize the day. I'm waiting for a shipment of 8mm black onyx beads to finish an order today.

Since Valentine's day is on Sunday I am planning on making Alan a new rosary to replace the one he picked up on a trip last fall. It's made of olive wood, from the Holy Land. It was made on a very light gauge wire and simply falls apart. The point with rosaries is that it takes just as long to make a rosary by hand using inferior materials as good materials. It makes no sense to me to put the time in working on a rosary just to have it fall apart because you skimped on the materials. I would rather put good time and care the first time around than have to spend time on repair.
